Travis Kelce Buys Stake in Racehorse Named Swift Delivery: 'A No-Brainer'
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has purchased a minority stake in Swift Delivery, a 3-year-old Thoroughbred racehorse.
Kelce, a horse racing enthusiast, said the decision was "a no-brainer." "I've always loved horses, and when I heard about Swift Delivery's potential, I knew I had to get involved," said Kelce.
Swift Delivery, owned by MyRaceHorse, has shown impressive speed and athleticism in his early races. He has won two of his three starts, including a victory in the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park in February. Kelce was particularly impressed by Swift Delivery's performance in the Southwest Stakes, where he overcame a slow start to win by a neck.
"He's a very talented horse with a lot of upside," Kelce said. "I'm excited to see what he can accomplish in the future, and I'm proud to be a part of his team."
MyRacehorse CEO Erik Christiansen welcomed Kelce to the ownership group, praising his passion for horse racing and his commitment to the sport. "Travis is a great addition to our team," said Christiansen. "He's a true horse racing fan, and he understands the potential of Swift Delivery. We're excited to have him on board as we work to develop Swift Delivery into a top racehorse."
Kelce is not the first professional athlete to invest in horse racing. Other athletes who own racehorses include Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, and Wayne Gretzky.
